Sarah's Cottage is charming, historic, and only a brief walk from the city centre. It provides modern standards of comfort, and tasteful accommodation with one double and one single bedroom. A fully equipped kitchen with working coal range (in addition to the electric stove and microwave), and under-floor heating provide a comfortable environment for mealtimes, when you are not using local restaurants. A washing machine and drier, and all linen are provided, including swimming towels. Telephone, television, and stereo are also provided. In the tiled bathroom there is the original clawfoot bath with shower overhead. Off-street parking is available.
Sarah's Cottage is close to galleries, studios, cafes and theatres, the School of Music, and Queen's Gardens. A Nelson gem, this historic cottage could tell many tales of early Nelson days: of the family with nine children who came from Taranaki to build it at the time of the Maori Wars: of its more recent owners who lived there approximately 60 years, moving across from Murchison after the big earthquake in 1929; of massive flooding in 1970, when buildings upstream were washed away by the Brook Stream overflowing its banks. The cottage was purchased by its present owners in 2001, and has taken almost a year to fully restore in a manner approved by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. Nelson is the home of the Wearable Arts Awards, and holds music festivals and choral schools which attract leading national and international artists and musicians The National Parks mountains, lakes, rivers and beaches provide a wonderful environment for every kind of outdoor activity including skiing, tramping, kayaking, jet boating, and fishing --- something for every age group. Local wines, organic farm produce, seafood, local cheeses and excellent breads are available, and a local weekly market entrances visitors with its array of cottage industries.
Tariff per night: N.Z> $150.00 for a couple
